Default Time On = Time Off?

    Time On = Time Off?

Why? Do the Pro's follow this type of protocol? I know that for a whole host of health reasons that this is a time honoured rule of cycling, but out of those making gains year in and year out, who actually follows it?

I do, and people who want to keep their hormones working normally do.

If you keep supressing your natural levels, you'll be screwed. Who knows what kind of issues the pro's have now.

I agree with Plexus. It's there to protect your health. Sure there are many yanks following the blast and cruise protocol but who knows what their endocrine system is going to look like when they come off.

Certainly we should know the long term effects of steroid use if it wasn't for the current political climate worldwide.

    Agreed.

The only pro's that have done gear that we can look at later in life are the ones from the golden era. Let's face it the amounts they did don't amount to anything that happens in the ranks these days.

Be very interesting to see where the likes of todays top pros would be in years to come.

What about with the introduction of HCG? This allows our test production to continue to operate normally. Wouldn't this help in preventing damage to our endocrine system?

HCG is an LH Anologue which deceives the leydig cells into continuing to produce Testosterone. The amount of hCG injected coupled with the frequency of injections is not enough to be a perfect replacement for genuine LH.

In addition, the Hypothalamus is still receiving hormone data via the feedback loop and adjusting natural hormone levels accordingly. LH is still completely shut down. Nothing tricks the HPTA into continuing to produce the same hormones it would off cycle. There is still an imbalance in the HPTA.

What hormones are affected by extended exposure to large amounts of artificial testosterone, how quickly will they come back upon cessation and in what capacity. Full? Retarded? Who knows.

hCG is just one factor in the cycle.

Prolonged use of hcg also causes it's own set of issues with the negative feedback loop

Although this is very much dose-dependent.

Can you explain what the negative feedback loop is?

"Testosterone production is regulated by a complex chain of signals referred to as the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is secreted by the hypothalamus in pulses and travels to the anterior pituitary via the hypophyseal portal system. The anterior pituitary gland then releases leutenizing hormone (LH) which in turn stimulates the production of testosterone by the interstitial Leydig cells in the testes. A negative-feedback loop controls the level of testosterone production - above-normal levels of testosterone in the circulation inhibits GnRH secretion by the hypothalamus which causes a reduction in LH secretion and lowers testosterone levels."

Your bodies feedback mechanism by which it will slow down a process to return homeostaisis. e.g if your body senses high testosterone it shuts off production of LH, (the HTPA) to return your levels back to normal.

Think of it like the Hypothalamus is the CEO. He/she controls everything, and everything is reported back to him. If something is out, he'll make the staff alter hormones...
