    Default diy home gym

i wanna home gym with all the good shit squat racks, cable crossover, lat pulldown, preacher curl etc.
i have never learned to weld, but would very much like to learn.
i reckon i can learn to build these pretty cheap, i found a blueprint for a squat rack online that looks pretty good.
    anyone tried this?
i'm just a fucking legend. end of story!

power lifting racks will be a piece of piss.

I think the racks will be easy mate but adding pulleys for pulldowns etc will be interesting (read: frustrating).

My brother is an engineer and he used to make gym equipment as a sideline. If you're after more plans, I can ask him if you like.

Dont get cut... such a sook sometimes, I was only asking. There is alot of people out there that claim to be 'engineers' but are not. An engineer goes to uni for 5-6 yrs to be qualified. As of next semester mid next yr ill graduate

What sort of engineer if you dont mind me asking?

Mick man the hardest bit would be the welding, and keeping it straight during. Heat causes the steel to bow and sometimes shrink. I cant do it, ive tried and i suck ass at it lol, drawings for it shouldnt be hard at all man, just measure the one at your gym and remake it lol. Hey look if you get me the measurements ill draw it up for you. Im no expert on how the body works and where the weight should sit but yeah man if i got some dims i can do it.

word of advice id probably just buy the cable cross over machine. could get tricky during fabrication

    Mechanical.

And fuck me, nothing to do with being a sook. I don't need a lecture on the difference between engineers and boiler makers/welders.

Im sure you dont, just some people get confused. Just a small story, i heard a guy saying he is in engineering and is an engineer because he sells lifting lugs and chains for a company hahaha, he is in sales not an engineer lol
Shit doing gym equipment is right up his alley! Moving parts and whatever. My father is a mechanical engineer. Above my head that stuff. Ill just design the floor underneath the machine lol

Simple gym equipment is not difficult to fabricate at home; but some mechanical components (pulleys etc) can be difficult and tricky. You'd rather buy this stuff; and make the easy stuff.

If you want a hand let me know, i can easily draw up something 3D (inventor/cocreate) and create some nice 2D plans; material lists, bill of quantities etc. This type of thing is a piece of cake.
