before we go rushing out to slash colesterol levels, remember how critical colesterol is in the production of other hormones.

Your levels are not that high. By all means keep an eye on it, take some steps to keep it "low", but don't get overly anal about it.

Thanks Laz, I didn't think about it in that way. I am going to look at lowering it back into the normal range but my concern was that if it was above normal and then I go on cycle would that be a problem??

First, I don't understand why it's high since I work out 5 days a week and eat properly and two, I was planning on starting a cycle on Monday.

My question is, is the number 5.8mmol/L a great cause of concern? My doctor didn't seem to be to concerned telling me to come back in three months to do another blood test and giving me a piece of paper with what I should or should not eat. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey mate.. As Lazarus said Cholesterol in itself is not such a bad thing, it's your ratio of HDL (high density lipoproteins) to LDL ( low density lipoproteins) that is of more importants. You want your Hdl's to be high while your Ldl's are low..
Hdl's like omega 3 and mono-unsaturated oils, etc you get from fish oil, Almonds, walnuts etc ( these actually assist in lowering the level of "bad cholesterol" ( LDL's )..
LDL's come from all saturated fats found in meat, dairy, poultry etc .. So as the other guys have already stated, trim all fat from your meat ( lean cuts only, drink only skim milk and include lots of fish or fish oil supps, also have a handfull of almonds a day and ya should be sweet..
