Default First time on one of these

Well, I'm not incredible at this whole 'tell about yourself' thing, but hey here goes.

I am new to the bodybuilding forum scene, a year ago I was just the stereotypical computer science major nerd who spent 14 hours a day or more behind a screen. Then I got a job at a place that gave free memberships to a really nice gym and I decided that I was tired of being that cliche tiny little guy who couldnt do anything physical without dying so I went and tried a day of working out. The next morning I vowed I would sooner die than ever lift again, but quickly stuck with it and next thing I know I went from the 130 pound tiny nerd to the in fairly decent shape 180 pound guy who actually could go out and do fun things that didnt require internet access.

Now a year later I'm still a novice lifter with little actual knowledge outside of a bit of personal experience and too much reading online. I figured a place like this would be a good starting point and I was pointed here by a friend of mine on facebook who promotes this forum avidly. I'm not entirely sure if I want to take up bodybuilding as anything more than a casual hobby of staying in shape, but I do like the improvements that I've gained and I'm always down to try new things and work hard to improve.

I'll stop here so no one has to read a wall of text, but summary: New to the scene, love meeting new people and making friends with similar interests, and this seemed like a great place to start

Welcome to the forum. By the way, 130lbs to 180lbs is very impressive. Well done!

Thank you Much of the credit would have to go to the personal trainer in the above mentioned gym who knew I couldnt afford to actually hire one but made me a deal that if I could prove to him I was serious by not missing a day in my first month then for every month I kept up he would waive his fees and help me along my way. Without good people like him helping me I probably would not have made near as much progress as I have.
