    money mike...

my day to day activities is same as you currently.

morning its a big meal , rice meat etc etc as much as i can pack. 5:30 is to break it to which i just have 3 dates ,water and perhaps a shake with a multi.

im trying to fit within another hour or 2.. another meal chicken/rice or sumthing.. train after this and down another meal and whenever i can fil lthe gaps in with water, yoghurt/almonds/milk

    im thinking doing mostly 3-4 exercises 2/3 x a week e.g

    deadlifts 1-2 sets
    squats - 1-2 sets
    bench 1-2 sets
    shrugs 1-2 sets
triceps/biceps any small muscle 1 set 4/6 rep range

    what do u think

cant use gear during but hoepfully the shock to the diet system from ramadan can promote better gains and trying to re pack on the weight

Try to concentrate on foods that will hold water.

Things like bread/rice etc will help you hold onto water during ramadan when most will be dehydrated.

Have some good food like eggs, lebanese labneh, olive oil, cheese and finish off with Black tea, which in the long run will minimise water loss

Don't have the usual sugary drinks that Muslims do as they would rob you of water (since they are empty calories and would draw on your energy reserves to help with their digestion and absorption)

Also it would be good to have some dates, not just for their energy, but also for their good soluble fibre and high mineral content.

    anthony,
i usually have bread or rice with eggs/meat in the morning around 4:00-4:30, with some tea or water and back to sleep... upon opening my fast i cant consume much as its hard to have breads/rice so i stick with dates and some fruits.. <-- is that fine?

do you think its ok to have fruit juice or should i be concentrating just water and nothing else?.

im also consuming almonds in between, i got told that i shudnt stuff myself as it defies the purpose of the fast.... so i mite replace some of the almonds with dates and keep more hydrated then full

Zayd that looks like a pretty good routine... I'm getting one to two workouts a week focusing on the core compound movements.. this is probably the smartest thing to do giving you the biggest bang for your buck I just think workouts should be kept short and sweet max 30 mins given the lower strength levels.. i've been going to taraweeh where they are reciting the whole Quran in 15 days so I'm hoping to get some more workouts in from the end of next week when it finished up...

as for breaking fast i've been having 3 dates, an orange and at least a litre of water and 3 caps of R-ALA then doing Maghrib. I find that I was getting constipated in the first week of ramadan and the water and oranges have been helping heaps with that.. I know too much info but somebody out there might be suffering lol After maghrib I've been getting into a meal which consists soup and rice/chicken going to taraweeh and getting into another meal which has either beef or chicken and heaps of water... I've tried to avoid protein/casein shakes as they dehyrdate the hell out of me and make me hungry/thirsty as hell the following day.. i just find that you need to down at least 3-4 litres during the night.. i try and keep it to whole foods and fruit when I wake up in the morning.. just easier on the stomach

As for the rebound after ramadan I can say that you'll definitely experience it after you get to your normal eating patterns and training - like you said ramadan is a massive shock to the system - I think what's far more important than that is inshallah being able to continue with the positive behaviours nurtured during ramadan - i've been getting my 5 daily prayers in pretty consistently and reading Quran as well - i'm pretty sure that i'll get back to training I just hope I can keep up with the religious stuff more..

I've been fairly constipated too. I must start getting some fruit into my diet. I find it hard to drink 2ltrs let alone 3-4 at night. I just end up walking around pregnant and unable to sleep...

    sleep becomes havoc.

if u eat thru the nite
it'll stop catabolism ... but when u wakeup sleep deprivation ,the day gets longer...

im loading up on creatine and glutamine lol ... aything to help it stop

altered training to total body workouts twice a week.
