how many of you fellas that do not compete keep a strict bb style diet?

i'm absolutely not interested in competing but i only allow myself one cheat meal a week, the way i see it i have a goal and the best way to my goal is to be strict on myself and just go hard.

Ok, well, it depends on what you mean by a strict bb diet.

I've only just decided to compete, so diet has taken on a whole new dimension for me. Prior to that? I was conscious of what I ate, tried to eat cleanly, manage cals, macro breakdowns to some extent, and ate what most would consider a weight training diet. Was/am I strict? Not as much as I could have been, but at the time I was eating for a better life, not a stage presence, and that attitude served me well.

Now things are different; diet is far more critical to me, and I do allow myself a cheat each week, although I try not to go overboard. I certainly don't drink anymore.

    Cheers.

strict? this is what i call strict, this is my cutting diet. i do calorie cycle a bit and this has been refined by wanksta, he cut out the wholoemeal bread, carrots lil things i didn't
think would be too bad. my body functions quite well on this low amount of carbs, i have a physical job but i guess i've gotten used to the low carbs now. the almonds are a very nice touch. every calorie of fat carb and protein is accounted for and percentages done up. this is one of about 8 i have run this is the most refined. wanksta had me using some flaxseed oil as well but when i added up the cals it was way overshot what i was aiming at so it cut out for now.

doesn't cut n paste well from excel

I dont compete but still follow a pretty strict diet each day. eat pretty close to the same meals each day with different seasonings/oils etc that way i know im getting the correct macros and cals each day, and have a cheat meal once a week which last night was a large double quarter pounder meal and 3 deluxe cheeseburgers

I used to subscribe to stricter diets, I don't anymore and it has made no difference except freed me from having an unhealthy relationship with food which had a very negative impact on other areas of my life. Although most of what I eat is very habitiual and I make sure I eat enough protein, efa's and veggies, the rest to me is just energy.

Obviously I take into account that different sources of energy will have different effects on how your body processes them, the body handles some macronutrients at times of the day better than others and I also adjust my energy intake/expenditure in accordance with my current goal.

I used this simple approach in order to drop a lot of body fat in the past and I seem to stay lean enough when gaining muscle, although I am not big by any means so I doubt the efficy of my approach when it comes to gaining a lot of muscle but it has got me to a point where I live a normal life, stress less and look better than the majority of people I see in the gyms anyway.

As far as a cheat goes, meh I just call it a Saturday night out and just keep the crap I consume in moderation. This week was a Greek restuarant with a few brews.
