Default Do Brands really matter ?

Have been out of the weights scene for over 15 years and have now been back at it for the last 7-8 months.

I wouldnt mind getting into some supplements and 15 year ago, all the hype was on Creatine but reading posts here it is seems L-Glutamine is the go.

Anyway, 15 year ago everyone was on the Max's supplements bandwagon, esp Protien & Creatine. I live in the country and my resources for supplements is only through the internet. I emailed a supplement store in Melbourne and they were going on about a brand called Redbak.

This got me thinking. Do brands really make a difference in supplements?. Does one brand work better than another?.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Id say yes as the contents of the supplements can vary between brands.

Im not sure on how much tho. But id put money on not all supplements being the exact same thing.

Also comes down to marketing and how many "anabolic" words they can fit into the name of it lol

What supps you thinking of doing?

I do milk thistle, l-glutamine and protein powder..

I don't notice any difference physically when on or off any of those supplements btw.. Well actually i notice i put more size on with 3 lots of protein powder a day.. But the others i don't feel one bit different

I was thinking of doing Protein Powder and Creatine, but after reading threads here i might ditch the Creatine for L-Glutamine.

As I mentioned earlier, been out of the supplements scene for long time and really dont know which way to go !

    Ditch creatine for L-Glut???
    They both work differently.
I would take the creatine instead as long as you are a responder.
Or splash out as use both, they are both relatively cheap.
Creatine you can get 1kg for around 30 bux and will last a few months.

The l-glutamine will have greater effect on your total wellbeing, health, and of course recovery...
The creatine will partially help you grow and become stronger provided you respond to it, as Shrek mentioned...

The choice comes down to why you're using supps at all...
Personally I'd do without the creatine as it tends to bloat me and doesn't have enough of an effect for it to be worth it... Glutamine on the other hand definitely aids in my recovery and keeps my immune system strong...

redback is shithouse and taste yuck!!!

When it comes to protein i only buy from companies that use Whey from NZ. It is a better quality whey then aus or american produced whey. Think about it this way, Yr round green pastures and high quality high nutrient food for the cows to eat, of course the protein will be better quality.

i use both glutamine and creatine
I look exactly like Shawn Ray except for my biceps, triceps, chest, shoulders, abs, back, traps, quads, hamstrings, and calves.

I use both Creatine and Glutamine. But if you can only afford one then definitely go with what Scottie suggested, Glutamine. It will aid recovery.

i know syn-tech use NZ whey protein. not sure who else. End of the day protein is protein its just the flavour and texture that you find you like and end up stickin with that brand.

i hear Muscle milk is supposed to taste nice. never tried it but...

proteindirect has NZ wpi and is a very good price in comparison to stuff you find from supp shops.
