thats because alcohol is a social lubricant and it helps people interact with one another. nothing at all wrong with it unless you start acting like a tool because you cant handle your drink in which case you should re-evaluate your drinking all together...

For the guy to loose his job, and to put his family through it all over again is absolutely ridiculous, I feel sorry for the guy!

*It was dealt with 7 years ago and the police didnt find any criminal activity in regards to the case. police are only interested when you've commited a crime and they will ONLY charge you if they feel as tho there is enough evidence against you otherwise they wont waste their time or the court's money. You'll be surprised that something alarming like 80% of rape cases never make it to trail because its either not reported or there's not enough evidence to proceed with the case.

Guyver interestingly I DONT have a strong emotional opinion towards this and until late last year, I was working with a sexual assault counselling unit. In fact, my old boss commented on this in one of the papers. Why I dont have a strong opinion is because we don't know the facts.

What noone has taken into account is that trauma can and does manifest itself in different ways and not always instantly. Post traumatic stress disorder is just that. POST TRAUMA.

That all said, im sceptical on all counts and think Matty johns and this woman should be left in peace (even though she brought it up again [i think]).

It's dangerous territory when you start saying things like that. eg "Just because the cops didn't lay charges doesn't mean it didn't happen". Yes it's true... but so is my example above. Once again... where's the presumption of innocence? You can't go around labelling people something which they haven't been proven in a court to be. It's called defamation.

Having said that, if we're not talking about Matty Johns... i agree with you 100%. Rape is mostly about power and control not sexual gratification.... if a woman screams, kicks or fights... the situation can escalate... if she doesn't fight it... the rapist may just be deterred and end the rape prematurely. afaik ;-)

I think it's interesting that since the story "broke", two of the alleged victim's colleagues have come out and basically called her a liar.

We may never get to the bottom of this, but it's my view that Johns has been harshly done by; and that this issue is not one confined to the NRL, or even sport in general, but to society as a whole.
